About

What Nalanda is

Nalanda is a public knowledge library. It holds entries on philosophy, ethics, politics, religion, psychology, economics, and logic, written to be read closely and argued fairly on every side.

Open, no login required

Nalanda is part of theask.club, but it is not the club itself. The Ask is a separate, invite-gated space. Nalanda is open. Anyone can read it, search it, or browse it, with no account and no application.

How it is built

Nalanda is built entry by entry. Each one is written first from sources, then checked through a separate verification pass before it is treated as settled. The full process is set out on the editorial policy page.

As of today, Nalanda holds 447 entries and growing.

What an entry can be

An entry can be a concept, a thinker, an ideology, a tradition, a model, an experiment, or a sourced text: a close reading built from an original work and its translations. Every entry follows the same underlying structure, so a thinker and a concept read the same way even when the subject differs.
